Take Action Today!
You can take action on this alert by reading the information below and following the
directions at the bottom.

Governor Pawlenty and Your Legislators Need to Hear From You!
Too often, legislators say they don’t hear from community members when it comes to public transit needs. You can make a difference by contacting them today!
You need to tell your legislators and Governor Pawlenty that you support comprehensive funding for a comprehensive transportation system.
The Senate and the House are putting their comprehensive transportation bills together this week, so take action today.
Note: The Star Tribune has a transit funding poll on their website today. Check it out and cast your vote: http://www.startribune.com/10142/story/1048592.html
A transportation system is a region’s circulatory system—and transitways are the arteries. Whether it’s a commuter rail line, light rail, or the bus, each transit line creates a healthier transportation system, making it easier for all Minnesotans to reach their destinations.
Currently, our transit funding is haphazard. Rather than fully funding a healthy system, our legislature funds one transit line at a time. If even one of the planned transit lines isn’t funded, it can compromise the transportation health of the entire region.
We wouldn’t dream of funding education grade by grade. We shouldn’t fund transit corridor by corridor. Our state deserves a healthy transportation system—and it deserves the comprehensive funding needed to make it happen.
Your message will be sent to each of the following targets:

Support Full Funding for a Comprehensive Regional Transit System Dear Governor,
Public transit makes our communities more vibrant and successful, connecting our region and shaping communities that we are proud to call home.
Unfortunately, what we want from a transportation system and what state policies deliver is increasingly disconnected. Minnesota shouldn’t have to wait a quarter century for the transportation results we need now.
Transportation Choices 2020, Senate File 1032 and House File 1112, proposes a ½ cent metro-wide sales tax to implement the Metropolitan Council’s transit plan by 2020. It also provides funding for communities to improve bicycle and walking amenities. When the sales tax is passed, expanded transit service in Greater Minnesota will be funded by five percent of the transportation amendment revenues.
The sales tax is broad-based, stable, and will allow Minnesota to leverage federal funding for our transitways by 2020.
I urge you to be courageous and invest in a transportation future that includes a comprehensive public transit system.
Sincerely,
Your name and address here
