Minnesota State Senate to Take Action on Omnibus Transportation Bill
The omnibus transportation funding bills are moving through Finance and Tax Committees and are expected to be up for a vote on the Senate floor Friday (or possibly Saturday). We need a strong transit bill to come out of the Senate in order to make progress on transit this session.
Transit for Livable Communities will send out an action alert for your Representives next week.
For now, please contact your Senator and tell them that you are a constituent and urge support for at least 80% of the sales tax revenue dedicated to public transit (we want 100%, but it's unlikely that the bill will change for the better).
After you take action on-line, please consider contacting your Senator by phone. Things can move very quickly at the Capitol this time of year. A phone call will be very timely.
You can reach your Senator by calling, 651-296-0504. If you don't know your who Senator is, tell them your home address and they will connect you with the right person.
Your message will be sent to each of the following targets:

Support a Strong Bill for Public Transit Dear Senator,
I understand the Senate is taking action on the omnibus transportation funding bill this week, possibly today. I'm writing to urge you to support the strongest bill possible for public transit.
A transportation system is our region's circulatory system - and transitways are the arteries. Each transit line, whether it's a rail line or a bus route, creates a healthier transportation system, making it easier for all Minnesotans to reach their destinations.
Public transit needs an additional $276 million each year for the next 15 years to build our metropolitan transit system and significantly increase funding for transit in Greater Minnesota. Please support 100%, or at the very least 80%, of the 1/2 cent sales tax revenue for public transit.
Please let me know how you plan to vote on public transit funding.
Sincerely,
Your name and address here
