Let's Get the Omnibus Transportation Funding Bill Passed!
You can take action on this alert by reading the information below and following the
directions at the bottom.

Conference Committee has worked out a deal, but we need extra votes on passage
The conference committee working on the Transportation Funding bill has put together a package that includes dedicated funding for transit through both the Motor Vehicle Sales Tax and a metropolitan area sales tax.
This package provides a significant increase in funding for transit systems throughout the state and is our best chance of making real progress in implementing a long-term transit vision. The alternative is a "lights-on" bill that will mean funding shortfalls will continue to plague transit systems.
We need YOU to send a strong message to legislators urging them to support the conference committee report when it comes up for a vote on the floor. It will take 2/3 majorities in both houses to override an expected veto of the bill by the Governor, so every vote counts!
Your message will be sent to each of the following targets:
Your State Representative
Your State Senator
A sample message appears below, which you may edit before sending.
Transportation Funding - Don 't Come Home Without It! Dear Representative,
Transit funding has been woefully inadequate for far too long. We have plans for a transit nework in the metropolitan area that will get people where they need to go and reduce congestion levels, but don't have the funding to make those plans a reality.
In Greater Minnesota, 7 counties have no public transit service at all. Demand for transit service far outstrips resources, leaving people isolated or forcing them to leave their homes and communities in order to access the services they need. With the population aging and another million people moving into our state over the next 20 years, we need to invest now in quality transit service.
You have an opportunity to finally provide the level of dedicated funding for transit that is needed to make our long-term plans a reality. Minnesotans are demanding better roads and transit as demonstrated by the strong vote in favor of the Transportation Amendment in November. It's time to provide a safe and effective transportation system for our businesses and our residents.
I'm strongly urging you to vote in favor of the omnibus transportation funding bill. Please consider the best interests of people all over the state who will benefit from a transportation system that truly works. I look forward to hearing from you on this important issue. Your name and address here
