Let's Get the Transportation Funding Bill Passed!

The legislative conference committee has worked out a deal, but we need your help to get it passed!
The conference committee working on the Transportation Funding bill has put together a package that includes dedicated funding for transit through both the ½ cent metropolitan area sales tax and Motor Vehicle Sales Tax.
This package provides a significant increase in funding for transit systems throughout the state and is our best chance of making real progress in implementing a long-term transit vision. The funding will accelerate the implementation of the eight transitway corridors and doubled bus service.
Transit projects that are affected include:
• Northstar Commuter Rail to St. Cloud
• Southwest Light Rail Transit from Eden Prairie to Minneapolis
• Rush Commuter Rail Line from Hinckley to St. Paul
• Red Rock Commuter Rail Line from Hastings to St. Paul
• Bottineau Boulevard Light Rail Transit from Rogers to Minneapolis
• Cedar Avenue Bus Rapid Transitway from Apple Valley to Minneapolis
• I-35W Bus Rapid Transitway from Burnsville to Minneapolis
• Central Corridor Light Rail Transit between Minneapolis and St. Paul
The alternative is a "lights-on" bill that will mean funding shortfalls will continue to plague transit systems.
We need YOU to send a strong message to legislators urging them to support the conference committee bill when it comes up for a vote on the floor. It will take 2/3 majorities in both houses to override an expected veto of the bill by the Governor, so every vote counts!

Transportation Funding - Don't Come Home Without It
Dear Representative,
I urge you to have the courage to invest in Minnesota’s future. The transportation funding package adequately balances funding for roads, bridges, and transit. Please vote in the best interests of people all over the state who will benefit from a transportation system that works.
With the population aging and another million people moving into our state over the next 20 years, we need to invest in our bus system and rail transitways now!
Minnesotans are demanding better roads and transit as demonstrated by the strong vote in favor of the Transportation Amendment in November. You have an opportunity to provide funding for transit that is needed to make our long-term plans a reality.
