Action Alert: Central Corridor is still alive!

mntransit.org

Central Corridor is still alive!

You can take action on this alert by reading the information below and following the directions at the bottom.

Issue

Time is running out to fund Central Corridor this session.

Background

Sixty organizations have endorsed a resolution calling on the Governor and legislators to fund Central Corridor before the end of the session. You can see the full list by clicking the button below (labeled "more"). If Central Corridor is not funded this session, then:

1. Minnesota will pay an added cost of $40 million per year in inflation alone for the line.

2. We will likely lose $450 million in matching federal funds (other communities are vying for these dollars and we could lose our place in line).

3. We postpone a major opportunity to begin critical investment for economic development and job growth along the Central Corridor line.

4. We delay even further on opportunities to keep our environment clean and prepare for major population growth. An additional 1 million people will arrive in Minnesota by 2030, and we need transportation choices to accomodate both drivers and transit users.

Fund Central Corridor this session!

Dear Governor,

This is the last weekend of the session and our final opportunity to ensure that Central Corridor can move forward this year. Please do all you can to promote a budget resolution and bonding bill that will fund this important project for the region. Transportation choices for our region are important to people throughout our communities!
