Support bus funding in the transportation bill
You can take action on this alert by reading the information below and following the
directions at the bottom.

Funding for buses this session depends on the House transportation bill (HF1309)
Metro area transit faces a $62 million deficit over the next 2 years. Without legislative action, Metro Transit and suburban providers will have to cut service or raise fares (or both!). In spite of hard work by Sen. Dibble and Sen. Murphy, the Senate has passed a bill containing the Metropolitan Council's proposal to raid the Livable Communities Act and brownfield cleanup funds and impose a fare increase and possible service cuts in 2010.
The House Transportation bill (HF1309) contains the best solution possible this year. HF1309 allocates funds from the Motor Vehicle Sales Tax (MVST) on leased vehicles to close half of the transit deficit. Unlike MVST revenues from purchased vehicles, these dollars are not constitutionally dedicated to transportation, and can be re-allocated for non-transportation use. In 2006, Minnesotans voted overwhelmingly on a constitutional amendment to dedicate all other MVST revenues to transportation. It makes sense to keep these dollars focused where voters intended: on our transportation system to help us get around!

Support transit funding in HF1309 Dear Representative,
Please support HF1309 with transit revenue intact!
The House transportation committee has worked hard to include funding for transit in this bill. As written right now, HF1309 will close half of the $62 million transit deficit and prevent service cuts and fare increases in the next biennium.
These are difficult times for Minnesotans. Buses in the metro area and Greater Minnesota are essential to make sure that people can get to work, school, doctor appointments, etc.
Please support HF1309 with transit funding intact when it comes to the floor this week. Your name and address here
